Saksamaal läheb kohtu alla John Demjanjuk, keda süüdistatakse 29 000 juudi tapmise kaasosaliseks olemises. [EPL]
Süüdistuse üks põhilisi tõendeid on NLiidu arhiividest pärinev "SS-Dienstausweis Nr.1393", millel seisab nimi Iwan Demjanjuk. Otsustav kohtu jaoks on sissekanne "Abkommandiert am 27.3.43 zu Sobibor". Nüüd on aga ajakirjandusse jõudnud kahtlused selle SS-töötõendi ehtsuses.

Saksa riigi kriminaalamet kontrollis töötõendit juba 1987 Iisraeli tellimusel. Tookord peeti töötõendit suure tõenäosusega võltsinguks. Põhjaliku uuringut aga ei teostatud, kuna Iisrael soovis seda ise teha. Väidetavalt on BKA uuringu kohta ka dokumendid olemas, kuid ametlikult näidatud neid pole. Endine BKA Kriminaaltehnika Instituudi kõrge ametnik Wolfgang Steinke tunnistas, et juba esmasel vaatlusel kahtles tõendi ehtsuses. Näiteks puudub tõendil väljaandmise kuupäev ning selle on allkirjastanud selleks mitte ettenähtud inimesed. Samuti on kasutatud harjumatuid trükimasina ja pitsati tähestiile.

USA ja Iisraeli spetsialistid on dokumendi õigeks tunnistanud. Kuna nende hinnangud pole Müncheni kohtule kättesaadavad, siis tehti uus uuring. Kriminaalõiguse prof. Christiaan F. Rüter ei pea aga tehtud järeldusi tõsiselt võetavateks. Tõendusmaterjali võrreldi kolme teise töötõendiga ning leiti, et need on sarnased ja seega autentsed. Samas pole teada nende 3 päritolu. Samuti ei tehtud materjali analüüse (paberile, tindile).
